Students were working on persuasive writing pieces, which is one of the modes of writing that fifth grade students need to practice for preparation for the sixth grade writing assessment, which was normally given in October. (That has been changed.) In addition to practicing that genre of writing, students have a chance to learn more about fact and opinion writing, using evidence to support their arguments.
