Word study is taught separately from writers workshop. I spent twenty minutes daily on teaching word study. The dry erase whiteboards have been a useful tool that I use to help teach various skills. They are easy to clean, with zero prep work involved. I always make sure that I teach my students how to correctly use the whiteboards, dry erase pens, and erasers.
